SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The Revival

That’s right, I’m saying it: The main card of WWE SummerSlam 2019 will start with the two best tag teams under WWE contract facing off for championship gold.

The Usos reportedly signed a new contract with WWE recently. It allegedly gives them a significant pay raise, and is a sign that the company has faith in their ability to be major players moving forward. Continuing their lengthy run as “best tag team in the division” is a great way to show that commitment from WWE, once they regain the tag titles from The Hardy Boyz.

The Revival, on the other hand, have been incredibly frustrated with their recent booking. If you compare Dash and Dawson’s NXT tenures to their WWE career, it’s like night and day. Although injuries in the immediate aftermath of The Revival’s call-up — to both men on the team — halted what little momentum they could build, for much of the past year and a half there’s been no indication that creative knows what they have.

After news broke regarding their desire to leave WWE, The Revival have seen some small success — they’ve been Raw Tag Team Champions, Dash became a cult hero at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. But a move to SmackDown for the duo would put them on the same show as the majority of the great tag teams in the company.

I’d personally love to see this match, and wouldn’t be opposed to it becoming a Steamboat-Flair or Gargano-Ciampa kind of deal. It would also be a warning sign to the rest of the wrestling world that WWE does actually care about tag team wrestling.
