Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2019: Full Card Preview and Predictions
By Jack Irene
Impact World Championship Match with Special Guest Referee Lance Storm: Johnny Impact (c) vs. Brian Cage
Long term storytelling is one of the most effective elements of professional wrestling. Today, this is rarely seen on your weekly wrestling program of choice, but the World Title storyline in Impact is the perfect modern example of this. At Homecoming, Brian Cage challenged the beloved champion Johnny Impact. It was a back and forth battle, culminating with Johnny Impact retaining.
Of course, this win came with controversy after his co-stars from Survivor decided to stick their noses into the action. Initially, the champion seemed unaffiliated with this interference but later revealed that he was the mastermind behind the entire plan.
Johnny would bail on Cage in a match against Killer Kross and Moose, claiming injury, only to rip his neck brace off and backstab his ally. Upon revealing this, another piece to Johnny’s puzzle was revealed when senior official John E. Bravo attacked Cage during a tag team bout, allowing Johnny to pick up a pinfall over The Machine.
Bravo joined Impact Wrestling’s power couple as the crooked referee who already had his fingerprints all over the feud, being the official in every match involving both men. With this reveal came demands for a special guest official, a role involuntarily picked up by Canadian wrestling legend Lance Storm.
On April 28th, I predict that Lance Storm will raise the arms of Brian Cage, as he wins his first Impact World Championship. Cage has been put through countless obstacles and it makes too much sense for him not to get his revenge here and send the fans home happy.
WINNER: BRIAN CAGE
Impact Wrestling has booked another interesting PPV event under Don Callis. The shows truly feel special, whether you’re an Impact Wrestling fan or not. The fact that four of the five matches advertised have roots stemming from Homecoming or even 2018, proves how organized and well-booked the product is.
Over four months of planning went into this show, and the card looks like it was worth the wait. On April 28th, the lights will be on at the Rebel Complex, for Impact Wrestling Rebellion, just one more great showing from Don Callis and the gang behind some of the best stories in professional wrestling today.
