While Braun Strowman may have lost his spot in the Money In The Bank ladder match to Sami Zayn, that defeat might actually do wonders for his WWE career.

Braun Strowman suffered a huge loss on WWE Raw. He didn’t just lose his match against Sami Zayn, he lost his spot in the Money In The Bank ladder match as well. On top of that, his loss was amplified by receiving a brutal beat down at the hands of 3 superstars at once.

While he eventually stood tall at the end of the show, Raw was still a massively disappointing night for ‘The Monster Among Men’.

At least, it was disappointing in a storyline sense that is. From a career perspective, that loss couldn’t have come at a better time for Strowman.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc), Strowman’s loss on Raw is part of a bigger story which will unfold over the coming month or so.

I would argue, to any outside observer, that story is easy to envision as well.

Braun Strowman was basically cheated out of his opportunity at Money In The Bank on Raw. Not only was Strowman put in that high-stakes match against Sami Zayn with barely a moments notice by the nefarious Shane McMahon, but Zayn had more than a fair share of help from both Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre in putting away Strowman during the match.

The entire framing of all of those segments on Raw did nothing but push how strong Strowman is. He very nearly was able to overcome all of those obstacles to defeat Zayn in their match.

It was the kind of position we haven’t really seen Strowman in over the past few months. Whatever the reason may be for that, we’ve gotten far more used to seeing Strowman in comedy segments or throwaway matches than anything rivaling the mammoth push he received for the better part of the past 2 years.

As such, you could almost argue that Raw was a return to form for Braun Strowman. A return back to the dangerous world title contender we’ve gotten far more used to seeing, as opposed to the man who was shoved into a feud with 2 SNL comedians on the pre-show of WrestleMania 35.

That means that the loss on Raw was anything but a blow to Strowman’s career. In fact, it might be the start of the push he needs to reclaim some of that precious momentum he’s lost in recent months.
