1. Drew McIntyre

The Scottish Psychopath is living proof that not all returns, nor all NXT call-ups are doomed to fail. Since his arrival last year supported by his tag team partner Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre has been one of the top names on Monday Night Raw, engaging in essentially one long term feud with the individual members of The Shield.

His loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania might not have been a huge moment for Drew but to compete with someone on Roman’s level on the grandest stage of them all is still a major career moment and, if anything, it suggested that big things were planned to help McIntyre regain any lost momentum. What better way to do that than to have Drew McIntyre take the briefcase.

Between Drew’s current lack of feud, the tease of him potentially going to SmackDown Live and his history of several defeats over current WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins, he is ideally placed. I think we’ve all known since the moment of his return to WWE that Drew McIntyre was a future world champion. If nothing else, this will serve to prove Vince McMahon was right all along.

Really, Raw has been struggling for top heels for a while now. With Brock Lesnar used sparingly at best, the title of top heel on Raw has wandered between some developing competitors. For a while it was Ambrose, for a while it was the combination of McIntyre and Ziggler but really, the top heel for most of last year was Baron Corbin.

It’s Drew McIntyre’s time to top the brand.
