WWE: The women definitely stole the show at Money In The Bank 2019

WWE didn’t book women on either main roster properly heading into MITB. However, they found ways to make the best out of what they were given.

Overall, women have been given the short end of the stick when it comes to the booking of their WWE storylines. They’ve been placed in random matches and virtually meaningless storylines to the point where a lot of the fans have wanted to pull their hair out.

We were promised change. We were promised a new era. But, with both main roster women’s divisions, things seemed to slide backward as far as the amount of time and effort they’ve been given in that booking department.

Yes, the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match is going to be a huge event regardless of how participants are booked prior to the match due to who it could enhance the career of the winner. But, still.

That being said, the women most likely knew ahead of time to make the best out of what they were given both before Money in the Bank and definitely during the Money in the Bank. I have to give them props for the entrances and the matches themselves.

Naomi came out first paying tribute to a black DC comic book character called Karen Beecher.

Of course, you know Naomi had to put some glow on it.

I love that woman.

Ember moon had an amazing entrance as well.

During the match, literally every woman got her spotlight.

Prime example. Naomi has always been athletic. Even Casper knows that. But, every time we think Naomi has run out of ways to show off that athleticism, she turns around and pulls something else.

Naomi felt froggy and hopped right over Natalya. Natalya got up, but Naomi hilariously just kicked her back down again off the ladder.

Later on in the match, Naomi dodged a double ladder trap in truly iconic fashion.

God, I love that woman.

Nikki Cross did an amazing job in this match for someone who was just placed in this daunting match just days ago. It’s not like no one thought she could keep up. She gives off way too many Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) vibes for that type of doubt.

But, she still exceeded some expectations for sure.

We can’t forget about Ember Moon’s incredible Eclipse either.

As for Mandy Rose, love her or hate her, she played a darn good villain here. She was on nearly everybody’s heels at pretty much turn.

And you knew the second she brought Sonya Deville with her that some shenanigans were going to go down. You were right. Sonya Deville made a darn good insurance policy.

When Mandy was out, Sonya stepped in, picked Mandy up, and carried her on her back up the ladder.

Yeah. I know what your thinking. Sonya is always “carrying” Mandy though. Yeah. But, she literally carried her this time.

** Giggles **

It may be petty. But…

Anyway, everyone lost it when they saw that Sonya Deville brought Mandy Rose right next to the briefcase close enough to grab it down. But, Bayley stopped them both in their tracks.. like a boss.

Once Bayley got them out the way, Bayley got that briefcase and became Ms. Money In The Bank… like a boss!

Oh. But we’re not done. Oh, No.

After a few short interludes (shade), Becky Lynch had two back to back title defenses… like Seth Rollins!

Ctrl + C

Ctrl + V

Her first defense was against Lacey Evans and honestly, it was a pretty decent match for what it was. The highlight was definitely the tiny details in Lacey’s character building as well as Lacey’s steady improvement in the ring.

That being said, as many expected, Lacey failed to gain the Raw Women’s Championship.

Unfortunately, this made Becky’s next title defense extremely predictable especially when Charlotte Flair walked right out after that match and demanded her championship match then and there.

And, you guessed it.

Oh my god, this was so cheesy it almost made my head spin. Oh, but it gets cheesier.

Charlotte Flair and her long lost twin, for whatever reason, felt the need to beat up Becky after the match and that’s when the 2019 Ms. Money in the Bank (Bayley in the Bank) stepped in to help.

Yup. She came to even the odds… with her briefcase.

It’s not unusual to have them tease cashing in. But, most were hoping they wouldn’t have her cash in this fast, despite this happening before in very recent times. That’s being Mr or Ms. Money In The Bank for you. It’s always on your mind.

Welp. That was quick! Bayley saw her chance and she took it.

God, I love wrestling!

Bayley needed this! Bayley needed all of this! She needed that briefcase, she needed that boost, and she definitely needed another and a better, championship reign than she had before. To call this a feel-good moment would probably be an understatement.

I kinda wish they would stop having people win the briefcase and cash in so quickly though. This is at least the second time they’ve pulled this with the female winners.

That being said, as long as WWE books Bayley properly as champion, the quick cash in won’t be a waste of time.

The women nailed this entire PPV! From the entrances to the outfits, the spots, and the winners (and losers). They still made their mark against booking odds.

These are tons of ways this could go here as far as storylines. But, I’m too nervous to speculate too much right now due to this slow death of the modern day brand split and the whole “wild card rule” thing.

Let’s just keep an eye on both of those women’s divisions and see where this goes.

But, excellent job ladies!
