Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black have been misused for far too long in WWE. It’s time that the company does something which would really highlight both incredible stars.

If you have a superstar known as ‘The Best Kept Secret’ that you never actually give a match to, are you playing into his gimmick or just misusing him? The answer to that existential crisis for WWE is pretty simple.

Buddy Murphy is being horribly misused by the company right now. He took 205 Live by storm earlier over the past year, quickly becoming one of the most entertaining superstars to watch in the company.

A “call-up” to Raw or SmackDown seemed like an inevitability considering how well he was performing on the brand. That’s why it really wasn’t too big of a surprise when Murphy popped up to cut a promo on SmackDown during the Superstar Shake-Up.

It just seemed like the natural next step for his development into one of WWE’s premier stars.

Then, he was gone. Just like too many other incredibly talented superstars in the past, some more recently than others, Buddy Murphy seems to have been pushed to the sidelines.

He only really made 1 noteworthy appearance on the blue brand after that initial promo aired, which was a live appearance to potentially start a feud with fellow 205 Live alumni Ali. That was about a month ago though. Since then, it’s been radio silence from Murphy on the main roster.

It’s a fact that seemingly hasn’t gone unnoticed by Murphy himself however, as he recently took to social media to hint at the start of a feud with another severely underutilized talent.

Aleister Black is in a slightly different, but all too similar situation as Murphy. He has all the makings of a top star. Great in-ring work, solid gimmick, and a long list of must-see matches highlight Black’s resume.

Nevertheless, after WWE broke up the initially thrown together tag team of Black and Ricochet, Aleister has been left to cut promos in short video packages on SmackDown for the past few weeks.

We’re still waiting for Black to actually have a singles push on the main roster, something which hopefully is on track to occur whenever WWE decides to end his recent soft reboot.

I say, what better time to start that push then right now against Buddy Murphy?

It would be a feud consisting of 2 superstars who fans already know can tear it up in the ring, going against each other in a series of fan-friendly matches sure to put both of them on the map.

There would be nothing inhibiting them from putting on brilliant matches or an entertaining storyline either. No titles to worry about, or existing angles that would have to be worked in. This would just be 2 superstars with a clean slate going 1-on-1 in order to prove once and for all that they deserve a spot at the top of the company.

It’s admittedly rare WWE goes for a storyline that simple anymore, but with a similar angle already happening on Raw between Cedric Alexander and Cesaro, I see no reason why it couldn’t occur.

Next. There's truth to saying Brock Lesnar is underrated. dark

If WWE wants both Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black to be future stars, as they should be, then the company has to start somewhere. At the moment, I see no better way to go about doing that then by pitting them against each other to pump out some sure-fire 5 star matches.
