As his pursuit of the 24/7 Championship continues, it’s safe to say that Drake Maverick has been one of the most entertaining superstars in WWE lately.

WWE hit a home run with the 24/7 Championship. In its short history so far, the title has already proven to be a resounding success.

It hasn’t been a success just because of the nature of the title itself either. Although I have to admit that the 24/7 Championship is basically the perfect gimmick to run in today’s era of social media, the superstars who have taken that gimmick and ran with it are the ones who are really worth talking about.

This new title has opened up more opportunities for entertaining superstars who simply haven’t had as many chances as they should have to show off their talents.

R-Truth, as our current perennial 24/7 Champion, has been the perfect hero to hold the title. I don’t think too many people would debate me if I said he was the funniest wrestler in the company today. His ability to make something amusing about almost every situation WWE has put him and this title in so far, with very few exceptions, is truly impressive.

Every hero needs a villain though, and Drake Maverick has quickly become WWE’s own Dick Dastardly in recent weeks. His constant pursuit of championship glory across the globe has been almost more entertaining than the actual angles WWE itself has produced for the 24/7 Title.

From canvasing entire cities with flyers to receiving tips from WWE fans as to the current whereabouts of Truth, Maverick has found no shortage of creative ways to try to take R-Truth’s title.

In fact, his unique antics have been so enjoyable to watch that you almost want to see him finally win the 24/7 Championship. The only problem would be that his ultimate triumph would spell the end to his tireless chase, and that’s just been too much fun in and of itself to stop.

Drake Maverick really has done something great with the opportunity WWE has provided through the 24/7 Championship. He’s found a way to get himself over as a lovable heel, despite limited TV time, by simply capitalizing on the nature of the gimmick at hand.

If anything, that’s the sign of a real star right there. The fact that he’s instantly propelled himself into the conversation for one of the most entertaining gimmicks in WWE today, practically exclusively through the power of social media no less, is not something to take lightly.

It’s also a testament to how great the 24/7 Championship has been, and could continue to be, as long as talented superstars like Maverick and R-Truth continue feuding over it.

Here’s hoping there’s many more weeks of Maverick 24:7 to come in the future.
