NJPW is back on home soil with the continuation of G1 Climax 29. After a raucous kickoff for A Block in Dallas last weekend, B Block presents their first set of tournament matches from Tokyo.

Night 1 of the 29th edition of the NJPW G1 Climax showcased A Block tournament matches with undercard tag matches previewing the coming clashes between B Block competitors. Now, live from Tokyo, B Block is set to challenge A Block to have the better first night of matches. With a nearly perfect event in Dallas (sorry, Fale and King of Thiccness EVIL), B Block has its work cut out for it.

The tournament matches for Night 2 include:

  • Juice Robinson vs Shingo Takagi
  • Jon Moxley vs Taichi
  • Toru Yano vs Tetsuya Naito
  • Tomohiro Ishii vs Jeff Cobb
  • Hirooki Goto vs Jay White

With undercard matches featuring:

  • Will Ospreay, Kota Ibushi, and Yuya Uemura vs SANADA, EVIL, and BUSHI
  • Lance Archer and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shota Umino, and Ren Narita vs KENTA, Clark Connors, and Karl Fredericks
  • Kazuchika Okada and YOSHI-HASHI vs Zack Sabre Jr and Minoru Suzuki

Looking at the matches listed out, it’s pretty clear that both the A and B Blocks are stacked in a way very unlike last year’s tournament. Last year’s B Block was like looking at a list of NJPW all-stars with only a few gems mixed into A Block.

With Moxley and Shingo added to the mix, there’s almost guaranteed to be at least one bizarrely unexpected and beautiful match on each night of the B Block. Moxley vs YTR, Ishii, and White, anybody? Shingo colliding with Naito, Goto, and Cobb? Sign me up!
