Finn Balor has been one of WWE’s biggest workhorses over the past few years, so it’s understandable that he reportedly wants to take a break from wrestling for a couple of months.

Although Finn Balor didn’t make many appearances on WWE television after WrestleMania 35, he was working as hard as ever on the house show circuit as the promotion’s Intercontinental Champion. Balor is one of the promotion’s best in-ring performers, but it seems like he’s never truly been valued highly enough by WWE. They understand his talent and potential, but it’s telling that he’s never won a world title since his shoulder injury at SummerSlam 2016.

Per sources close to Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin, Balor will be taking some well-earned time off, with one source believing that the wrestler simply wants to “recharge” his proverbial batteries.

Satin was careful not to give a specific reason for the request, though the opinion’s of that source would make sense. Being a WWE superstar seems like an incredibly draining gig.

Balor, per Satin, has requested two months of time away from wrestling, which would presumably start in August after SummerSlam.

Since Balor lost the Intercontinental Championship on the Extreme Rules pre-show to Shinsuke Nakamura, it stands to reason that Finn could have a match against The King of Strong Style at SummerSlam. Some have wondered if Balor could win the title back as The Demon after winning three straight SummerSlams as his powerful alter ego, but that wouldn’t seem to be likely if he does end up taking a chunk of time off.

Two months is a drop in the bucket to WWE, so they’d have no reason to decline Balor’s request. He could come back refreshed and better than ever with that time off, as being able to reflect and recharge should be afforded to every superstar who needs it. Heck, it’s why so many fans are huge proponents of WWE having an offseason, just like other sporting brands.
