WWE legend Mickie James will reportedly miss seven to nine months after suffering a torn ACL earlier this summer, as she’s scheduled to undergo surgery.

Since returning to WWE in late October and joining SmackDown Live in January 2017, Mickie James has shown that she’s still got it. While James hasn’t won a title in her latest stint with the company, she’s made so many up-and-coming Superstars look better, putting on strong matches with the likes of Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch.

Sadly, we won’t get to watch James wrestle for several more months, as the living legend will need to undergo surgery on her right knee. James suffered a torn ACL at a WWE Live Event in Waco, Texas on June 1, according to WrestlingInc.com.

The Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer reports that James is undergoing surgery on Tuesday, and he makes note of an incredibly interesting statistic. This is the first major injury in James’s career, which began 20 years ago in 1999 on the independent scene.

Per Meltzer, James will miss approximately seven to nine months while recovering, as a torn ACL is one of the most significant injuries an athlete can suffer.

Here’s to hoping James can make a full and swift recovery, because she could be back in time to a massive pop at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, perhaps even recording a huge performance in the WrestleMania Battle Royal. James has been excellent in the ring even at the age of 39, entrenching herself as one of the most impressive veteran WWE Superstars on the roster both in the ring and on the microphone.

Whenever James returns, there will be plenty of dream matches for her, too. Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans were among the NXT call-ups this year, and more talented women should be on their way to the main roster by 2020. James is at her best when working with rising stars, and she could play a role in developing WWE’s next crop in the ring with some stellar matches.
