WWE should take this opportunity to have Bray Wyatt move on from his old Sister Abigail finisher, and to begin using the mandible claw instead.

On Monday Night Raw, Bray Wyatt laid out WWE legend Mick Foley with his own signature move, the mandible claw.

It was just the second time we’ve seen Wyatt’s “fiend” persona live on WWE TV, with the first coming in the form of an assault on Finn Balor that was punctuated by a devastating Sister Abigail.

With Wyatt still very much in the early stages of working through his new gimmick, WWE should take the unique opportunity the timing of those two attacks presents, and let Wyatt keep the mandible claw as his primary finisher going forward.

Now, that’s not to say there’s anything wrong with Sister Abigail as a finisher. In fact, I would argue it’s a move that will forever be linked to Bray Wyatt in wrestling, simply because he was the one who essentially popularized it.

However, that move is tied to the old Bray Wyatt. It’s going to be associated with all the ups and downs that came for Wyatt before his time as the sadistic Firefly Funhouse host. There’s a certain value to that for sure, especially considering Sister Abigail as a character remains part of Wyatt’s current gimmick, but it just seems like he would be better off starting somewhat fresh.

In other words, Wyatt needs a new move that captures this new drastic shift in his character. He needs a move that represents how his character has changed, and no better move comes to mind then the mandible claw.

The mandible claw is the kind of move that makes audiences a bit uncomfortable. It looks rough and rugged, rather unlike what we usually come to expect from a precisely executed WWE finisher.

If you tie that in with the fact that it allows for a close-up of a fan favorite superstar being brutally rendered unconscious by a veritable monster in a horrifying mask, then it just seems to be the perfect finisher for Wyatt’s new persona.

Going forward, I think that means WWE would be wise to keep the mandible claw as the move of choice for this new version of Bray Wyatt. Keep Sister Abigail in his repertoire of course, but only use it for the big occasions that deserve an extra pop.

In the meantime, let “The Fiend” run roughshod over the roster with his vicious new finishing move.
