WWE Smackville: Kevin Owens beats Elias in surprise bonus match
In a match that was not advertised to take place during WWE Smackville, Kevin Owens defeats “The Living Truth” Elias after his live performance.
Only a small handful of matches – including a Triple Threat WWE Championship match and an Intercontinental Title bout – were advertised to air from Nashville, Tennessee. But in between those matches, WWE Smackville promised to televise a live performance from none other than everybody’s guitar playing hunk of grease, Elias. Seriously, he should probably stop putting so much grease in his hair. It’s gonna fall out one day if he does. Or is Elias’ hair just really wet?
In any case, a live performance did take place, but because Elias is, well, Elias, he got booed out of the building. Thanks to his usual local sports team trashing and because he was trashing Nashville as a city just as badly, Elias got the biggest, loudest boos of the night. Which says a lot for a regular house show crowd, but the boos were unanimous and eruptive as if these show was emanating on a Pay-Per-View, or at the very least a Raw or SmackDown Live in front of a hot crowd.
Well, this crowd was too hot for Elias as he felt tempted to leave the ring, but pushed on to continue his performance. This proved to be to his detriment, as he was interrupted by Kevin Owens. After a brief brawl, KO challenged Elias to a match to take place right then and there to given Shane McMahon a taste of what he’d get at SummerSlam. The ref confirmed that the match was official.
Although Elias fought valiantly and got his licks in, KO was able to make his much cheered comeback before nailing him with a Stunner. Since nobody gets up from the Stunner, Elias was down for the count.
