With faced with Dolph Ziggler and Samoa Joe as challengers again, at the same time this time, WWE Champion Kofi Kingston prevailed at WWE Smackville.

A large bulk of Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship reign has seen him collide in the ring against either Samoa Joe or Dolph Ziggler. He successfully defended his title against The Zig Man twice on back to back Pay-Per-Views this year, as well as faced him a handful of times for television matches. Meanwhile, he retained his title against the dominant Samoa Joe at Extreme Rules before defeating him at Extreme Rules, then again on this past episode of SmackDown Live. This time, tonight on WWE Smackville, Kofi wrestled both men at the same time in arguably his biggest challenge yet.

At a televised house show emanating live from Nashville, Tennessee, Kofi defended the title he has held for over 100 days now against his two biggest adversaries this year in a Triple Threat match. Going into this match, most fans and critics alike were of the assumption that a title change was unlikely so close to Kofi’s expected title defense at SummerSlam against long time rival Randy Orton in just two weeks.

However, because upsets happen all of the time in WWE, many of us were prepared to expect the unexpected going into the night’s main event. The match started with Samoa Joe and Dolph Ziggler double teaming over Kingston promising to settle this one-on-one once the champion was out of the picture, but it did not take long before the match became every man for himself.

By the end of the bout, it came down to Joe and Kingston and when it was just between them, it ended just as their Extreme Rules match ended: with Kofi finishing Joe off with a climactic Trouble in Paradise to close out the night.
