Roman Reigns reportedly signs a new deal with WWE

Roman Reigns has been at the pinnacle of sports entertainment for years, and WWE’s resident “Big Dog” has reportedly signed a new multi-year contract with the professional wrestling powerhouse.

As 2019 winds to a close, Roman Reigns will likely start to play a more prominent role in WWE’s programming, especially as the SmackDown brand transitions to FOX as part of a new television deal in the Fall. SmackDown will be a key part of FOX’s programming, and there are few wrestlers who are better at promoting the WWE brand than Reigns.

So it comes as no surprise to see that Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reports Reigns has signed a new multi-year contract with WWE. Per Satin, the deal was officially put to paper last month. The timing of the move just a couple of months before WWE SmackDown’s scheduled move to FOX makes sense, as Reigns was unveiled as the biggest acquisition in the brand’s history.

(OK, technically Elias was the biggest acquisition, but it’s so obvious that Elias is the biggest star in a company that literally stands for “Walk With Elias” that it’s not even cool to mention it anymore.)

Reigns’s new contract details are unknown, but it’s safe to say this is a man who will wrestle with WWE as long as possible. He’s part of the very fiber of this company and is respected by the fans like few other performers, both for his work inside the ring and his ability to inspire wrestling fans.

In interviews, Reigns has made his pride in the WWE product and his own work clear, including when discussing another promotion set to make waves on television in the Fall in All Elite Wrestling.

When Forbes and other sites unveil their lists of the highest-paid wrestlers in WWE, it will be interesting to see how close Reigns, as the top full-time male superstar, is in earnings to legendary part-timers Brock Lesnar and John Cena. Reigns and Becky Lynch should be WWE’s top earners and are WWE 2K20’s cover stars, but we’ll have to see exactly how much Reigns is getting.

Regardless, he looks poised to put together some special work now that this Shane McMahon stuff is over, perhaps as a way of easing him back into things. It looks like 2020 will be another big year for the Big Dog, with the upcoming autumn months also likely poised to have plenty of big moments for Reigns on FOX.
