WWE: Xavier Woods isn’t in King of the Ring tournament and it’s a travesty!
On Tuesday, WWE released a list of all sixteen participants in the 2019 King of the Ring tournament. Most of them were names you would expect, but somehow Xavier Woods didn’t make the cut.
It has been four years since the last King of the Ring tournament aired exclusively on the WWE network. In those few years, no one has campaigned harder for its return than Xavier Woods.
This week, his prayers were answered when WWE announced they will reinstate the prestigious event next week on Monday Night Raw.
However, in a cruel twist everyone’s favorite wrestler/gamer/cosplayer with a doctorate will not compete in the tournament. No, Woods was left off the list of competitors and that is just wrong!
On Tuesday, Xavier took to Twitter with documented proof that he has maintained the King of the Ring was his favorite thing in wrestling since at least 2016. It has been his dream to compete in the tournament since he came to WWE in 2010.
We here at Daily DDT aren’t privy to who selects the participants for the King of the Ring tournament, but surely there must be some mistake. Otherwise, this is a blatant miscarriage of justice and it simply can not stand!
Listen, we let this slide when you didn’t initially list your boy as one half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions last month. That was probably just an honest mistake. We watched helplessly as Woods’ campaign to become United States Champion came to an end when he lost in semi-finals of the 2018 US Title Tournament to Jinder Mahal.
Jinder never wore American flag-themed gear like Apollo Creed, now did he?
We even had to let it go when you didn’t count Team SmackDown’s hard-fought win in the 10-on-10 Survivor Series tag team elimination match because it was on the pre-show. You let Stephanie McMahon claim a clean sweep over the blue brand when you knew that wasn’t true. The correct tally was 6-1, but you shamelessly erased the Team SmackDown’s only win.
Let’s not even talk about Vince McMahon’s behavior earlier this year leading up to WrestleMania 35. Kofi eventually got his opportunity and proved him wrong. So, that’s all water under the bridge.
Nevertheless, we can’t ignore this injustice. You’ve gone too far this time WWE and we demand answers. Do you seriously believe the blandest wrestler in the world, Baron Corbin, deserves this more than Xavier Woods?
Didn’t the McMahons cast him out and say the fans are The Authority now? What gives? If you’re listening to us, then why isn’t Woods in the King of the Ring tournament? Is this because The New Day sided with Kevin Owens against Shane McMahon at the town hall meeting last month?
Regardless of your reasons, this is wrong. If you don’t do something about it, we will take to our computers and complain about it on Twitter, Reddit, and comment sections. Xavier Woods belongs in the 2019 King of the Ring tournament and this won’t be the last you’ve heard about it. This isn’t over WWE!
