WWE: Paul Heyman reportedly wants to give big push to Cedric Alexander
Supposedly, according to recent reports, Cedric Alexander is at the top of Paul Heyman’s list of Superstars he wants to push while running WWE Raw.
“Please sign Cedric!” *clap clap clap* “Please sign Cedric!” *clap clap clap* That was a chant that echoed across the Full Sail University in 2016 when WWE held its first ever – and as of this writing, only – Cruiserweight Classic tournament following Cedric Alexander’s show stealing match against Kota Ibushi during the tourney’s second round. In the midst of this post-match chant, Triple H just could not help himself but give the crowd a thumbs up. Next time we saw Cedric, he was officially signed as a WWE Superstar.
There is something about Cedric Alexander’s in-ring technique that’s just magnetic enough to impress the highest of higher ups in WWE. Clearly, it left an impression on Triple H. That magnetism helped lead The Soul of 205 Live to a big Cruiserweight Championship win at WrestleMania 34 and, eventually, a main roster call-up to Monday Night Raw. Now, it seems as though the latest big suit to be impressed by the magnetic Cedric Alexander is none other than Raw’s new head booker, Paul Heyman.
According to a new report from the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Paul Heyman is supposedly very high on Cedric Alexander. Both he and Ricochet are supposedly on a list of names expected to be pushed up the card in hopes to bring in a teenage audience who likes high flyers, especially since AEW is expected to arrive to television with a whole roster of high flyers.
After not being featured on the red brand for some time, Alexander was suddenly pushed up the card some months back following his masked portrayal as Roman Reigns’ tag team partner, Gary “The GOAT” Garburt. Since then, he has had a show stealing dive that continues to be talked about, then feuded and defeated Drew McIntyre. McIntyre got his win back last week in an electric match.
The idea that Heyman is high on Cedric is especially interesting considering Alexander’s presence in the King of the Ring tournament, which begins tonight. Could we be living in the Age of Alexander sooner than later?
