WWE: Bray Wyatt could win the Universal Title at Hell in a Cell
It is being heavily rumored that Bray Wyatt could be returning to WWE PPV at Hell in a Cell to win the Universal Championship. And frankly, that is exactly what needs to happen.
Our next WWE Pay-Per-View arriving on the horizon will be Clash of Champions. It is there that Braun Strowman will be challenging Seth Rollins for his Universal Championship.
Whoever wins is expected to then defend their title the following month at WWE’s October PPV, Hell in a Cell. If either Strowman or Rollins hold that title that long, it looks like they will have a Fiend to look forward to.
The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California is the arena that will be hosting the Hell in a Cell event and appear to have leaked out some vital information over Twitter. In a tweet, they claim that the winner of Strowman vs. Rollins at Clash will be defending their Universal Championship against The Fiend at the following PPV.

As we all know, match cards are always subject to change, especially when the card hasn’t even been determined yet and is in the earliest stages of booking development. Even if this is true and WWE are at least having talks about inserting Bray Wyatt in a title match on PPV, we won’t know about it for sure until it gets announced onscreen about a month from now.
However, if this is truly happening, Bray Wyatt absolutely has to win. Why? Because he can’t afford to lose.
Between the Firefly Funhouse and his much talked about appearance at SummerSlam (mostly thanks to an eerie, but rocking entrance), Bray Wyatt has maintained relevancy without even appearing onscreen. Half of the mystique is wondering when and if he’ll ever show up on an episode of Raw or SmackDown Live.
He has washed off whatever sort of damage his character suffered during his previous incarnation, but if he is booked in a World Title match and loses, then it’s just the same old song and dance we’ve seen from Bray for the past seven years: that he loses in big match situations.
Bray in general can’t afford a loss so soon since his rechristening, but if he gets his first huge match since that rechristening, then that highlights the same sort of issues that the Bray Wyatt character struggled with when he merely “The New Face of Fear.”
Even if it’s too soon for him to win a title, it would be even worse if he lost his first big title match on PPV.
