It may not be long until we’re looking at a wide open Intercontinental Championship picture in WWE. With that being said, here’s some superstars who would be perfect opponents for Shinsuke Nakamura.

At Clash of Champions, Shinsuke Nakamura’s revitalized WWE push continued as he beat The Miz to retain his Intercontinental Championship. A little help from his new manager, Sami Zayn, was needed to get the job done, but it was a strong victory for Nakamura regardless.

Nevertheless, I can easily envision a quick rematch resulting from that outside interference, especially considering there’s such a short turnaround between Clash of Champions and Hell in a Cell on October 6th.

With all due respect to The Miz though, who I still maintain has done a great job as a babyface, it’s time we see some new talent injected into the Intercontinental Championship scene after that.

As such, I hope WWE seizes the opportunity an almost totally wide open championship picture presents to deliver us a feud that can truly help elevate an up-and-coming star.

With that in mind, here are three strong potential opponents for “The King of Strong Style” to square off against over the coming months.

3. Ali

Ali clearly has the potential to be a massive success in WWE. He pretty much has it all, down to a thrilling in-ring style that makes practically all of his matches potential show stealers.

If anything, that potential for a five star match should be more than enough on it’s own to root for Ali vs. Shinsuke Nakamura to happen at a full-fledged pay-per-view down the road.

Of course, we all remember that Ali actually holds a recent win over the current Intercontinental Champion as well, and even a loss at the still hilariously named Smackville WWE Network special,  meaning the storyline for the start of this feud should basically write itself.

In other words, don’t be shocked if we get a much needed rematch soon between these two always entertaining superstars.
