WWE Rumors: What’s coming up for Lana?
Rusev recently made his return to WWE television, but he did so without his manager Lana. Could she be making her return soon in a role of her own?
Although Rusev and Lana are partners in real life and have produced some excellent work while together, we’ve seen both wrestlers shine in WWE while separate. Lana, for example, trained her tail off to produce an excellent performance at Money in the Bank last year in the women’s ladder match, showing clear improvement from her time in the title picture in 2017 against Naomi.
“The Bulgarian George Clooney” (he’s far too handsome to be called a “brute”) recently made his return to Raw as part of the atrocious storyline surrounding the Kanellis family, and fans are excited to see how he fits into Raw’s programming.
Rusev wasn’t brought back with Lana, and it looks like there’s a good reason for that. The Wrestling Observer News’ Dave Meltzer reports (h/t WrestlingInc’s Marc Middleton) that WWE has specific ideas for Lana’s character that don’t involve Rusev. As Middleton relays, this means a return for Lana could be on the horizon, whenever WWE find an opening for her to enter a sensible storyline.
While Lana and Rusev undoubtedly work well together, not pairing up the two could be best. They don’t need to be in a partnership role on screen all the time, and Lana showed in 2018 that she has a ceiling as a performer that hasn’t been reached.
She has put in some serious work to perform inside the ring, which did earn her respect from WWE fans. And, of course, her comedic timing is impeccable, which helps since WWE have put her in so many bizarre storylines.
So it’ll be exciting to see what’s next for Lana, who hasn’t competed since the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal in April. With the WWE Draft coming up after SmackDown Live gets settled on FOX, Lana’s return should be forthcoming, along with other familiar faces like Sheamus.
