1. Adam Cole Defeats Matt Riddle To Retain The NXT Championship

Matt Riddle defeated Killian Dain in a street fight to become the number one contender for Adam Cole’s NXT Championship. Matt Riddle, a former MMA technician and the King of Bros, has yet to win a championship on NXT since his debut a year ago.

He doesn’t need ‘flip’ flops to ‘flip’ the switch inside the WWE ring. He has the grit and determination to open some eyes and drop some jaws, and there’s no doubt he’ll do the same against Adam Cole in a title match with such high stakes.

Despite these incredible attributes that Matt Riddle possesses, he may have bit off more than he can chew when it comes to Adam Cole. Cole always has something up his sleeve to find a way to win, and Riddle may not be savvy enough to respond to his tricks in a timely fashion, especially with Cole’s Undisputed Era brethren lurking at ringside.

Unlike some of the aforementioned WWE NXT superstars, these two juggernauts are most likely staying in NXT for the time being. With that being said, expect a rematch between them at the next NXT Takeover.

As with Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish, Cole very recently fulfilled his prophecy with his brethren and must sustain it long enough for the fanbase to remember. Whether this match ends conclusively or not, Cole is the safe bet to retain the NXT Championship, and that’s undisputed. As for Matt Riddle, ‘bye bro.’

Indeed, all of this and more will take place on a must-see WWE NXT two-hour premiere airing live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the USA Network.
