WWE: 4 reasons why fans were upset about Hell in a Cell
By Dorathy Gass
If I had to rate the WWE Hell in a Cell (HIAC) pay-per-view (PPV), I would it give it a solid 5. The matches themselves were okay, some better than others (looking at you Sasha Banks versus Becky Lynch); however, the outcomes were not what I was expecting, and there some terrible booking decisions, overall.
And the WWE Universe is in an uproar that can be heard all across social media. Not only via the “boos” during the main event, but also through the chants of A-E-W loudly echoing in the distance.
Why is everyone so angry? I’ll start with the reasons from the main event and work my way to the beginning of the show.
No One Likes To See A Main Event Title Match End In A DQ
If you are closing the show with a title match, then simply put: ensure there is a solid finish. Fans don’t care if a heel wins dirty, or a face wins clean, we just want to see the three-count or tap out.
Furthermore, most of us probably wanted to see The Fiend win last night, and walk out with the WWE Universal Championship.
I adore Seth Rollins, but it’s Bray Wyatt’s time to shine. While Wyatt was booked strong within the match, and the red cage mixed with that red lighting was cool, having him win the bout thanks to a DQ decision … in a Hell in a Cell match … well that was beyond lame.
It also didn’t make one ounce of sense, considering what has been done in the past with these matches, and the fact that the rule book is generally thrown out the window for HIAC.
If you weren’t ready to slap a championship on The Fiend, WWE, then don’t book him in the title race picture. He’s the hottest thing in your company right now, and while I can see that he wasn’t at all buried last night, in many fans’ eyes, he was, and that’s why many are upset; that’s why HIAC left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
It was a terrible way to end the show, and no amount of blood coming from Rollins’ mouth, post-match, could save that booking outcome in anyone’s eyes.
