Locker Room Reflections – Jan. 11, 2010

Whenever I think about The Miz, this is one of the first things to ever come to my mind. In fact, this was the first glimpse of him I saw where I started to realize he was far more than just another reality tv contestant.

WWE had started going all in on pushing The Miz in the latter part of 2009. At a time where he had rebranded himself from goofy jort wearing dork into a bonafide wrassler in wrassling tights, it was a tough transition for fans to buy into early on. But in one of the first Raw episodes of 2010, The Miz cut a promo where for the first time in his newfound character reboot, he looked like a main event superstar.

In this promo, he started off backstage (fittingly, near the locker room) and trailed his way back to the ring. In between, he sprouted off about his real life hazing he suffered early into his career, talked about proving doubters like JBL wrong, and tied it into his current feud with MVP. Twas the perfect melding of fiction and nonfiction, as well as just a damn good promo on Miz’s part.
