WWE fans loved every second of Isaiah Scott’s NXT debut
WWE fans saw Isaiah Scott wrestle his first match on the Black and Gold brand, and they fell head over heels for “Swerve” after his match against Roderick Strong.
The Undisputed Era’s antics reigned supreme again, as Roderick Strong received a little assist from his teammates on the Oct. 9 episode of WWE NXT against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott.
He needed it, too, otherwise the North American Champion may not have defeated Swerve, who made quite the impression on NXT fans in his first match with WWE’s third brand.
Previously, Scott wrestled Drew Gulak, who only just lost the Cruiserweight Championship earlier in the night against Lio Rush, on 205 Live to establish himself as a future star.
But this match against Strong was even better. Strong and Scott are two of the best wrestlers in the world, and they showed why their story-telling ability and athleticism are difficult to match. The layering in this bout was exceptional, especially the story-telling around the finish with the interference from the Undisputed Era and Strong’s decision to force Swerve to tap instead of trying to pin directly after the End of Heartache finisher.
Swerve will surely be back with a vengeance, but, until then, WWE fans already have the former MLW top star on their radar as a future top star in NXT.
What a way to make your debut during the so-called Wednesday Night Wars.
You said it, Ross! That match was sooooooo good!

Wade is spot on. That was a wonderful finish that leaves room for even more between the two in the future. A callback to Swerve in the same submission?

They 100% do. Scott was a massive star in MLW and clearly ticketed for big things, so he was a huge signing for NXT. In just one match with the brand, Scott has shown all of the qualities that made him a top star for another promotion.
He’s a future NXT Champion, no doubt.

I love the callbacks to a wrestler’s career outside WWE. Well done, Mauro!
Yup, that was a big win.
Although Swerve couldn’t beat Strong, who is currently a champion as part of a stable with all the gold, he’ll get a big win soon enough. Swerve is clearly going places.
