WWE fans react to Chad Gable’s ridiculous name change
Chad Gable has been one of WWE’s most underrated wrestlers over the last few years, but we’ll have to start calling him by a new name. Officially.
Since Baron Corbin – well, actually, Vince McMahon – has no original insults other than short jokes to send at rival Chad Gable, the latter has been referred to as “Shorty” on more than one occasion during this dragged-out feud. Gable has embraced the nickname, and, uh, so have WWE.
On the first night of the 2019 WWE Draft on FOX’s SmackDown Live, Gable received a name change.
Yes. Yes, it’s true. Chad Gable is now “Shorty Gable”.
And fans did not know what to think…
We can’t upload tweets with GIFs here, but it is safe to say that there were plenty of the “WTF Blinking Guy” memes to go around during SmackDown.
It’s harsher on the ears than a Vickie Guerrero scream. Because that was at least funny.
If AEW starts gaining momentum, they may have just trolled themselves. (Doubt it, though, SmackDown will roll in the dough regardless of what they do or what AEW does…that’s how the machine goes at this point.)
It seems like another lifetime when I was on this website, complaining about Mustafa Ali being just “Ali”. And now I’m reminded that Ali should really be in the title picture again after killing it this Spring in the WWE Championship scene.
We’re ALL done…until we tune in again next week. Or something like that. Is this Stockholm Syndrome? And can someone tell me why it’s called Stockholm Syndrome?
Oh. Right. I almost forgot we watched Gable vs. King Corbin. Again.
Anyway, Chad – sorry – SHORTY Gable is so talented and goofy that he’ll find some way to succeed despite this absolutely idiotic and ludicrous nickname from Vince K. McMahon’s desk. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun laughing at how stupid this is – and, potentially, how stupid we are for watching WWE by extension.
Just kidding. We’re awesome. Wrestling fans are literally the best, because we wade through THIS nonsense for the moments that matter. Like seeing Becky Lynch being the No. 1 overall pick.
