For all its flaws, the WWE draft did what it was designed to do. It separated the rosters of RAW and SmackDown and now fans understand which wrestler is on each show.

Both Cesaro and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will now exclusively wrestle on WWE SmackDown. The draft did open doors for countless possibilities for new feuds.

The reports coming in from a scheduled dark match after a recent Monday Night Raw say that Bray Wyatt attacked Cesaro as “The Fiend.” It wasn’t so much the action of Wyatt attacking Cesaro, it was what the action represented that excited the fans.

Could fans get a Cesaro and Bray Wyatt feud? This remains to be seen.

In order to have a great wrestling feud, two men should bring the best out of each other and envoke emotion out of fans.

Cesaro has found himself stuck in the “next year he should be World Champion” traffic jam of WWE talent. He has had great matches and given fans memorable moments. His main event matches on RAW with John Cena and Seth Rollins left fans in amazement.

The difficulty with Cesaro is he always seems to get so close, yet never breaks through to that “main event tier”. Year after year, fans grow frustrated trying to understand why Cesaro is not portrayed as a top talent.

“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt is coming off a character roller coaster. He went from being the hottest act in WWE to a character stifling match against Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell.

It is difficult to find a weakness in the way “The Fiend” was presented. He was a mix of The Joker and Jim Carrey from Kidding. The match at Hell in a Cell was a disappointment to fans. Both wrestlers’ came out looking worse than before. Following Hell in a Cell, Seth Rollins burned down Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House.

This confused fans because there was so much invested In the Firefly Fun House promos. When it burned down and neither character gained anything from the action so far, it fell flat.

Both men need to rejuvenate their careers. Wyatt needs to regain an aura of excitement that was almost dashed by the disaster at Hell in a Cell. Cesaro desperately needs a singles feud that gives fans a reason to care about his character.

WWE’s next PPV will be Crown Jewel, on October 31st in Saudi Arabia. The bout between Rollins and Wyatt is a match that WWE claims, “can’t be stopped for any reason.”

The match already feels like a poor conclusion to a below average feud. Fans see right through the match. They see that with Wyatt on SmackDown, the odds of him defeating Rollins in this match are slim.

Cesaro is yet to have that memorable singles feud. He has constantly put on great matches, but has lacked a singles rival. Feuding with Wyatt will allow him to draft off of the excitement that Wyatt carries when he enters the ring.

In the past, Cesaro has missed the mark on his promo skills on a consistent basis. It is unknown if he can “talk fans into the building” in a feud with Wyatt.

Sometimes, in wrestling and in life, the only way to know if something works is to try it and see the result.

If Cesaro can make the most of his opportunity with Wyatt, it should elevate him in the fans eyes. Cesaro has still been portrayed as an average wrestler to the casual WWE fan.

Bray Wyatt has to use being drafted to SmackDown as a launching pad to show fans what his character should be. WWE missed the mark when they didn’t explain why he was involved in a WWE Universal Championship match. Fans understand that the WWE Universal Championship is the top prize in the business. WWE failed to explain why a sociopath, “The Fiend”, wanted to be champion.

A feud with Cesaro allows Wyatt can go back to what made the character special; a desire to inflict pain on others who he deemed deserved it. That is what made “The Fiend” special, he appeared, inflicted pain, and left.

Cesaro entering a feud with Wyatt has to provide fans with a reason to care about him. His inability to break through to the main event is not a reflection of his talent. It appears to be a reflection of the WWE’s lack of ability to portray him as a character fans need an emotional investment in.

That won’t be a challenge if Wyatt and Cesaro can bring a feud to SmackDown that fans have not seen.

The challenge will be what both men can provide fans. If given a large enough canvas, we should be able to see what both wrestlers can add to a SmackDown show that has new stories to tell its viewers.
