Although nothing has been officially announced for WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames III as of now, these five matchups would be the most logical and exciting additions to the card.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames is set to make its highly-anticipated return for the third consecutive year over Survivor Series weekend next month. For as hot as WWE NXT has been since its move to USA Network in September, no matches have been made official for the event as of now.

The black-and-gold brand has been giving away some pretty remarkable matches on their television show every week in an attempt to entice fans to tune in. One would assume that might have to do with how there has been no zero mention of the upcoming TakeOver on NXT TV up to this point, but the build to WarGames has actually been going on this entire time.

NXT’s last few shows have laid the groundwork for what should be a tremendous TakeOver. While the brand’s live specials never cease to deliver, WarGames III in particular has the potential to be something special.

Only four episodes of NXT TV remain until TakeOver, so hopefully official announcements regarding its lineup are imminent. Until then, fans will continue to speculate what matches are the most likely to transpire.

Based on what we’ve seen on Wednesday nights recently, this is what the card for the event could, and should, look like.

NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Following a successful title defense against Matt Riddle earlier in the evening, NXT champion Adam Cole was in celebration mode at the end of the Oct. 2 episode of NXT, only to be interrupted by the returning Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa was forced to relinquish his prized possession ahead of TakeOver: New York in April as a result of a neck injury that required immediate surgery. He vowed he’d be back for his belt eventually, but no one thought it’d be as soon as six months later.

Cole vs. Ciampa is the most obvious addition to the TakeOver: WarGames III card, especially given everything Cole and the rest of Undisputed Era put Ciampa’s longtime friend Johnny Gargano through this summer. More importantly, Cole has what Ciampa wants, and that’s the NXT Championship.

In the two years they’ve been on the black-and-gold brand together, Cole and Ciampa have never once squared off in singles competition. That will change over Survivor Series weekend when Ciampa gets his rightful rematch for NXT’s top title.

Although Cole has faced some tough opposition so far as NXT champion, Ciampa will easily be his most determined challenger yet. Whether The Blackheart will be successful in regaining the gold he never technically lost is another story, but we can’t wait to find out.
