On Sunday, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle was packed with title defenses, special matches on the road to Wrestle Kingdom 14, the Super Jr Tag League final with a showdown between SHO & YOH and El Desperado & Kanemaru, and a couple of other notable surprises.

With a show so eventful, it’s hard to cover everything at once, so here are some main takeaways from New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Power Struggle.

Let’s address the elephant in the room first:

Hiromu is BACK.

It’s been over a year since Hiromu was injured (and relinquished his title) and he finally made his grand re-entrance alongside a new version of his theme and a countdown video that looked like he definitely made it himself. He surprised retaining champion Will Ospreay following his title defense against BUSHI with a display that can really only be described as perfect, by first lovingly mocking community concerns about the state of his neck and his style of wrestling and then throwing himself around just as chaotically as possible. Everyone, he’s at a 1000%.

Officially, Hiromu has challenged Ospreay to get his Jr. Heavyweight Championship back at Wrestle Kingdom 14, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible for him to have some fun in the meantime.
