NXT came tonight on the heels of two massive showings on Raw and SmackDown, but was WWE able to keep up the brand’s momentum?

In many ways, this felt like the most anticipated NXT show since the brand moved from the WWE Network to USA Network.

After two shows in which the NXT roster quickly became the talk of the wrestling world, it was interesting to see how WWE followed up once the ball was back in the their court at Full Sail.

Let me tell you before we go any further, they certainly didn’t disappoint either.

The O.C. Invade NXT

The show opened with a bang as footage was aired of The O.C. brutalizing The Undisputed Era backstage right before the show kicked off.

Styles, Gallows, and Anderson then made their way out from the back to cut a promo about how, as AJ Styles put it, “The O.C. was taking over NXT.”

That brought out Ciampa and a rousing “Daddy’s Home!” chant from the NXT fans. He took the opportunity to welcome Styles and The O.C. to the “main roster”, before he was flanked by Keith Lee and Matt Riddle.

That led to a six-man match being booked between the NXT superstars and The O.C. for later in the night.

Overall, this was an effective segment, albeit one that was really just there to set up the main event. Still, the backstage attack really sold the war between the brands, so it was a solid way to kick off the show.
