WWE: From CM Punk to The Rock – 12 biggest returns in WWE history
By Tom Colohue
1. Roman Reigns
The Big Dog’s return is a still fresh in the memory moment that came with a lot of caveats. Firstly, a major change in character from the aggressive, possessive and dominating Roman of the previous years to the much more relaxed and less power hungry Joe that we know now.
Still not wrestling as often as he used to, Roman Reigns has taken a back seat to names such as Lesnar, Rollins and Lynch without really losing much of his old prominence.
Much like Triple H many years before, Roman left in a bad place and returned to an overwhelming positive. For Roman, though, it was a battle with cancer. He promised to swing for the fences and swing he did. A stunning victory, a powerful return and a man with a message to pass on.
Roman’s return wasn’t just a return to the WWE. It wasn’t just a return to wrestling. It was an inspiration, a sharing of hope and an opportunity to learn. He came back on a massive wave of momentum and ever since then he has continued to carry all of that positivity with him to give much more than your average wrestler is able to deliver.
Put simply, Roman Reigns leaving and coming back had a huge impact and still could from here on out.
