WWE: 5 best Survivor Series matches of all time
2. Men’s Team SmackDown vs. Team Raw – 2016
If one had to choose the very best classic traditional elimination match in Survivor Series history, it would be hard to think of any match other than Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown. As the first male Raw vs. SmackDown five-on-five elimination match since the brand split returned to WWE the previous summer, this match offered perhaps the most fun elimination match to ever take place at the PPV.
If Team WWE vs. WCW highlighted WWE’s early circa 2000’s main event picture and arguably the best wrestlers in the industry at the time, This Team Raw vs. SmackDown match highlighted the very best and most popular wrestlers that either of WWE’s main brands could offer at the time. And Shane McMahon.
This match had it all. A Shield reunion. Payoff to the James Ellsworth vs. Braun Strowman squash match from earlier that year. Randy Orton in the Wyatt Family, biting the bullet for his master. Looking back on it, we even got some foreshadowing regarding future feuds, specifically that between Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens that we would see culminate at WrestleMania.
Even three years after the match took place, it still holds tremendous replay value.
