WWE: 5 best Survivor Series matches of all time
1. Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan – 2018
Is it too soon to call this one a classic, given that as of this writing, this match took place just over a year ago? Ah, who cares? It’s my list anyway. If I want to call this match a classic, I am going to call this match a classic! And if I want to call it the best match in Survivor Series history, well, guess what? It is the best match in Survivor Series history. You’re welcome.
Truth be told, this match was one of those rare matches to really strike an emotional chord with me and I like to think some of you may even agree. In the underdog role he’s perfected for so many years (with just a hint of a cowardly and overconfident villain), Daniel Bryan made myself and the crowd feel for him at the perfect time.
He was still fresh from his in-ring return from injury and audiences were still hyper aware of that fact. Which is why seeing Brock Lesnar recklessly (in character, because in real life, he’s as professional as they come, making scary spots like this look real) dropping Bryan on his head time and time again at the start, there was this hush over the crowd. Cameras pan to that same crowd as fear and concern flood so many eyes.
Then, when Bryan mounts the comeback of a lifetime with knees and low blows galore, they erupted. It’s quite the sight to see that’s hard not to get emotionally invested all over again upon repeat viewing. Hell, it’s hard for matches like this to get that kind of reaction in one viewing, yet alone repeat viewings. The chemistry was there and these two made magic in that ring.
A good argument can be made for this being one of the better matches of either man’s career (I already think it’s the best match of Brock’s career) and
