WWE Starrcade 2019 will feature a full card of great matches, but don’t sleep on Kevin Owens’ interview with Hall of Famer Ric Flair; this has the potential to be a memorable segment between two great talkers.

Kevin Owens has been on a tear in 2019, reminding WWE fans why he is one of the best all-around performers in the business. He was the lone saving grace of Shane McMahon’s grating heel run, hitting Stunners and looking like the company’s best male babyface. And at WWE Starrcade 2019, he’ll get to show off his promo skills against Ric Flair.

The Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Georgia will play host to this year’s Starrcade on Dec. 1, and they made the official announcement that Flair will appear at the souped-up house show for a one-on-one interview segment on the critically acclaimed Kevin Owens Show.

(Side question, where would you rank Owens on the list of best WWE shows? No. 2 behind MizTV?)

Starrcade was the brainchild of wrestling icon Dusty Rhodes, who was Flair’s best babyface rival. So when Flair shows up at Starrcade in a region of the country where he was the biggest heel star, it’s a massive deal.

Thus, this is a huge opportunity for Owens to go toe-to-toe on the mic with Ric, cement his status as one of WWE’s best talkers today, and get some more babyface rub for all the fans watching Starrcade on the WWE Network.

We tend to bring up the phrase “passing of the torch” in the context of actual matches, such as John Cena passing the torch to Roman Reigns at No Mercy 2017. But this act can just as easily occur in a promo segment, so don’t ignore the potential of this interview to be a star-making moment for Owens.

Anything goes when Flair is given the mic on a show, but there has to be something special brewing, especially when taking into account that this is freaking Starrcade. Owens is one of the early favorites to win the Royal Rumble in 2020 after all the great babyface work he’s been putting in, so this segment with Flair could be WWE’s way of giving KO more momentum.

Next. Yes, Rey Mysterio should have beaten Brock Lesnar. dark

The Prizefighter has a tendency to make the most out of everything. Whenever he opens his mouth, WWE fans listen, hanging on to his every word. He just gets promos, making excellent use of gestures, props, and inflections while negotiating comedic timing and gravity as needed.

So Owens and Flair is an interview segment worth watching and not skipping on Sunday, Dec. 1, because it could be a prime example of Flair giving a nod to Owens as an all-important babyface and talker for WWE going into 2020.
