It’s pretty common to either see EC3 on screen for a brief second or not at all, but there’s a reason why he’s been missing from WWE television since September.

EC3 joined WWE NXT with a great deal of fanfare and made waves with his promos, as talking was his strong point as a breakout star for Impact Wrestling. But since joining the WWE main roster, The One-Percenter has found it difficult to gain any sort of momentum.

Whenever EC3 misses a period of time from television, the general assumption is that it’s because WWE doesn’t care about him. But in this case, his recent absences have been down to an injury.

According to the Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer, with a hat tip to WhatCulture’s Andrew Murray, EC3 suffered a brain injury (concussions are brain injuries) in September and has thus been out since.

Perhaps he suffered the injury on the Sept. 30 Main Event taping, when he teamed up with Eric Young in a loss to Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado. He last appeared on the main roster’s programming on Sept. 23, losing to Rusev in singles competition on Raw.

So that’s a two-month absence for a concussion, which may be scary news. It’s not known if he’s been cleared to compete by WWE or if he’s still been dealing with concussion symptoms, but hopefully WWE are simply exercising caution here.

Concussions are always serious business, so let’s send EC3 positive vibes and wish him the best in his recovery, assuming he’s still dealing with complications. WWE haven’t made the most out of the One-Percenter’s gifts since his call-up from the Third Brand, but maybe fortunes will change for the four-time 24/7 Champion in 2020.

Before joining the “E,” EC3 was a two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion and an Impact Grand Champion.
