So why couldn’t WWE Shop do this for Naomi in 2017?
WWE have released a $6,500 custom title on their shop for The Fiend, but it makes us even more disappointing that they didn’t do this for Naomi two years ago.
Naomi’s “Glow” gimmick took off in 2017 in her second reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion. She won the title in her hometown of Orlando at WWE WrestleMania 33 and gave the championship a new, vibrant, light-up look that fans ate up.
But the company never really capitalized on either her increasing popularity – her reign ended at SummerSlam against Natalya and she never got to have a major feud – nor did they sell her custom title on the WWE Shop despite massive fan interest.
WWE, however, have given us a Bray Wyatt custom title that can be purchased on the WWE Shop for the cool price of $6,500.
The title is currently available for pre-order.
Wyatt’s title is so expensive because it’s hand-made and comes with all sorts of little details. And that’s nice for the 1% of fans who can either afford this or are crazy enough about The Fiend to want this title.
Taking nothing away from Wyatt, this announcement has made fans more bummed out that Naomi never got to have her custom title on the shop. Her LED lights would have made the title more expensive than a regular SmackDown Women’s Championship replica, but let’s just say that it wouldn’t have cost anywhere near $6,500. It would have been an affordable, as far as custom titles go, chance for fans to carry an important piece of Naomi’s legendary WWE run with them.
Naomi is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in WWE today, and she also has an important legacy with the company like Wyatt. But it’s a reminder that not every wrestler gets an equal opportunity to be marketed by WWE. In the end, it’s us, as fans, who are hurt by this, too.
Hopefully, Naomi will get another title run in the near future, and perhaps the Raw Women’s Championship will soon “Feel The Glow” with a custom title on the Shop.
Until then, we’d like to wish Naomi a happy birthday and continue to wait for her return to television.
