WWE superstar R-Truth is a 23-time 24/7 champion, but he’ll have to chase a NASCAR legend in order to regain the title for the 24th time.

Earlier this year, the USA Network sent WWE a list of pitches in order to boost the ratings, and the idea Vince McMahon settled on was a resurrection of the “Hardcore” title as the “24/7 championship”. Or whatever R-Truth calls it.

R-Truth, with key assists from Carmella, has made the 24/7 championship one of the greatest things in WWE, perhaps against all the odds. The future WWE Hall of Famer is one of the most entertaining and ageless wrestlers of our era, and whether it’s pinning Jinder Mahal on a plane or getting into shenanigans at Drake Maverick’s wedding, he’s made this title comedy gold.

But on this week’s episode of Raw, the joke was on Truth, as he was pinned by NASCAR legend Kyler Busch.

And yes, an even bigger NASCAR legend, Michael Waltrip, assisted Busch with the victory by counting the 1-2-3 on the rollup.

Kyle Bush is now the latest celebrity to win the 24/7 championship, while R-Truth was left in a state of shock. He’ll be desperate to win his “baby” back and become a 24-time 24-7 champion. And since it would be his 24th victory, it deserves a special celebration, right?

It won’t take long for R-Truth to win the 24/7 title, and I’ll bet by the time you’re reading this, he already took the title back from Busch on the same episode of Raw. (Or will have taken it from whoever pins Busch…because Busch can’t leave this show with the title, right?)

Anyway, that was a nice pop for the NASCAR fans in the arena, while the rest of us probably popped a little bit at Truth’s reactions. He always looks so pure when he loses that title; you can tell how much it means to the former United States Champion.
