Rusev and Lana have been embroiled in another controversial storyline in WWE, but The Bulgarian George Clooney has been working his magic to make it all click.

WWE fans have long loved cheering for “Rusev Day”. Once placed into the “foreign heel” trope, Rusev has become one of the most lovable babyfaces in wrestling over the years. Many have been begging for Rusev to get a chance to hold a world title in WWE, recalling the thunderous cheers he received for most of 2018.

Recently, Rusev’s wife and former manager Lana, who has now joined forces with Bobby Lashley as part of a controversial storyline, announced a five-year extension with WWE.

According to sources close to Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue, WWE also want to sign Rusev to a new deal and see The Bulgarian George Clooney (I refuse to refer to him as a mere “Brute”) as one of their “top priorities”.

Furthermore, Colohue gives some inside scoop on how Vince McMahon feels about Rusev, since there’s a fan theory that the boss simply does not like him. Per Colohue’s sources, Vince is “in Rusev’s corner” and has no intention of letting the superstar slip away.

With AEW looming, WWE has been more proactive about extending superstars and attempting to keep them happy. Rusev seems to be loving this angle and is doing his best to make the most out of it in an effort to vault himself into the main-event picture on Raw. The man’s charisma, athleticism, and potential have never been in doubt, so it will be interesting to see if 2020 is the year it all truly comes together for “Rusev Day”.

It’s also great to hear a report that Rusev is on the verge of getting paid handsomely. WWE has been doling out more money now that AEW Dynamite is hit, and they’re also giving out longer contracts. I’d expect Rusev to wield a five-year deal soon like Lana.
