John Morrison is back in WWE, even if he once tried to pour cold water on rumors that he would be reuniting with the company.

In late September, PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reported that John Morrison had signed a deal reuniting with WWE after previously being the illustrious main eventer “Johnny Impact” for Impact Wrestling.

But not long after the report surfaced, Morrison tried to quiet things down, taking to Twitter in order to deny the move. Honestly, nobody really believed him, since they assumed Morrison wanted to keep things quiet for a more surprising return in the future. Big-name wrestlers have a tendency to want to keep things unknown, as does WWE.

However, WWE Backstage on FOX’s news correspondent Ryan Satin gave us all an important scoop on the Dec. 3 episode of the show, informing wrestling fans that, yes, John Morrison is indeed back.

Per Satin on his “The Satin Sheet” segment, WWE confirmed the news directly to the Pro Wrestling Sheet reporter.

I assume someone with Morrison’s vast experience in wrestling and past success in WWE would jump right to the main roster, but WWE could use more star power on NXT. They recently moved Finn Balor back to their growing third brand, which goes head-to-head with All Elite Wrestling on Wednesday nights in prime time.

Morrison could flourish in NXT, showing off his insane athleticism and wonderful charisma with the other big-time talents on the Black and Yellow brand like Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, the Undisputed Era, Matt Riddle, and The Velveteen Dream. I mean, could you imagine Dream vs. Morrison or Dream vs. Riddle? *Chef’s Kiss*

Although most of us already assumed Morrison had signed a deal with WWE, it’s great to hear confirmation of this news directly from Satin on WWE Backstage. That means Morrison’s return is all but guaranteed, and it will be interesting to see when he debuts.

It’ll probably happen in 2020 and since it’s been “announced” early, a Royal Rumble “surprise” appearance isn’t likely.

But NXT or Raw or SmackDown? That is the question…

No matter what, Morrison will be awesome on any brand he’s selected to, and fans will be ready to cheer like crazy when he decides to bless us all with some “Parkour” moves. (Note to self: The Elimination Chamber Pay Per View is in a couple of months.)
