WWE Rumors: Here are the matches being considered for TLC 2019
WWE TLC 2019 still has zero matches officially announced for a show that is nearly one week away, but here are the rumored matches that are being considered for the Pay Per View.
For most fans, it’s frustrating when WWE announces most matches for their Pay Per Views less than a week – or even just one day – before the show. This practice seems to be more common now than ever before, and it’s been taken to an extreme in the build to WWE TLC 2019.
While matches like Rusev vs. Bobby Lashley, King Corbin vs. Roman Reigns, and Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt seem easy enough to predict, the rest of the card isn’t as easy to guess. Our Mark Justice recently tried his hand at it.
So far, no matches have been announced for TLC, but the Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer did recently discuss which matches COULD be in play.
The Target Center has been advertising Corbin vs. Reigns, Lashley vs. Rusev, and a killer first-time ever Women’s Tag Team Title TLC match between the Kabuki Warriors and Charlynch. And Wyatt vs. Bryan for the Universal Title seems like a safe bet.
As WrestleZone’s Alex Santa Maria relays, Meltzer said that these matches are being contemplated by WWE for TLC:
Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens
Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Braun Strowman
Aleister Black vs. Buddy Murphy
RooDolph vs. The New Day
The O.C. vs. The Viking Raiders
All six of these matches would be amazing from an in-ring quality perspective and would also make sense base on recent storylines. Owens and Rollins have amazing chemistry and have REALLY been going at it, so Owens could have a perfect heel foil in a recently-turning Rollins.
Meanwhile, Orton RKO’d Styles to close the Dec. 2 episode of Raw, and Murphy and Black is a dream PPV match for many fans.
These six matches could help make up a strong card if any of them were picked, but it’s telling that none of these rumored matches are women’s matches.
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross should be on the card after recently reuniting, and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley needs an opponent. While WWE is doing a weird storyline where they don’t book Becky Lynch, who will likely fight for the tag titles, in Raw Women’s Title defenses, the Red Brand should have at least one women’s match on the TLC card.
WWE needs to start caring more about women’s wrestling, and they need to start building matches sooner for Pay Per Views. Some of these rumored matches look great, will be great, and have been built (especially Rollins vs. Owens), but this is still a frustrating situation for WWE fans, especially when it comes to how the women in the company continue to be treated.
At least we’ll get a Women’s Tag Team Title TLC match with four of the best wrestlers on the planet, barring a dreaded “plan’s change”.
