Lacey Evans vs. Haley Jones

Lockup to start, transitioning into Lacey Evans getting an arm drag followed by an arm lock on the enhancement talent, before slamming her down. She backs Jones into the corner before allowing her the chance to get to her feet.

Another aggressive lockup into the corner. The former lion tamer briefly gets the upperhand, but she quick catches a hand. A Woman’s Right hand, allowing Evans the win.

Grade: N/A

As the motto goes, I don’t grade squash matches. This worked in getting Evans over and helping her look strong, but there’s little to no difference in how Lacey wrestles as a face vs. how she wrestles as a heel. Odd to me.

Sasha Banks comes out right after and demands Evans stays in the ring, because they have business to take care of … right after this commercial break.

Back from break, Banks says Lacey got lucky with that sucker punch last week and she oughta respect the leader of this women’s division and not to insult her or Bayley again. She adds Lacey is a terrible role model to her own daughter and Evans tells her not to mention her daughter again.

She talks about her time as a US Marine Corp and threatens to drop Banks. She teases a Woman’s Right and Banks jumps out of her skin. Evans exits the ring, but up the ramp gets blindsided by Bayley.

Grade: C+

The US Marine talk felt a little preachy, but Lacey Evans comes off as a natural babyface. I like Banks’ selling of the punch to make Lacey look strong (plus, I like cowardly heels under the right circumstances), but it just feels inconsistent when Banks, as The Boss, has been itching for a fight and hasn’t backed down from anyone these last few months.

Also, if the endgame of Boss n Hug is a feud between Banks and Bayley, then positioning her as a cowardly sidekick is not the right move. Gonna hurt that breakup angle when it eventually happens.
