3 WWE Hot Takes Of The Week: The Miz should beat Bray Wyatt

3. Rusev and Lashley Have The Most Exciting Angle On Raw
Okay, okay, okay. Before everyone gets up in arms over this take, allow me to explain myself. I believe it is the most exciting angle, not the most interesting angle. The most interesting angle is probably the developing rivalry between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins over who is the locker room leader, but Rusev and Lashley, along with Lana, have been able to create the most excitement with their angle.
When this storyline first started, almost everyone was low on the whole Lashley stealing Lana away angle. Corey Graves, someone who works for WWE, even spoke about how ridiculous the angle is and that he would rather just watch Bobby and Rusev fight.
Well, my question is, would a fight between the two matter as much or have the audience as invested, if this storyline was not involved? Based on the fan reaction whenever these two have a physical altercation on TV, my guess is no.
Week in and week out this angle gets the biggest reaction out of the crowd. Any time Bobby or Lana even speak, their words get drowned out with boos. Now, people can argue that its “go away heat”, but if that were the case, the place wouldn’t come unglued every time Rusev came to shut them up.
This crazy unhinged Rusev character, who just wants to beat the crap out of Lashley even if it means going to jail, has the crowd erupting every time he lays hands on Lashley. Now, Rusev, with all the momentum on his side, could skyrocket as a top babyface on Raw after all is set and done with this feud.
Now, I understand the criticisms about how ridiculous the angle is. For example, why are Lana and Bob being arrested when Rusev was the one that violated the restraining order? Well, I don’t have an answer for that, but the unpredictability and ridiculousness of the angle just makes it that much more entertaining. The arrest of Lashley and Lana was probably the biggest pop of the night on Raw last week.
Wrestling is meant to be fun, and sometimes it is okay to not take things so seriously. This angle is a refreshing change of pace in the realistic world of pro wrestling today.
