5. Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr and Taichi) v Toru Yano and Colt Cabana

Sometimes wrestling is too serious for my liking and if there’s anyone that can make a wrestling fan smile, it’s the combo of Toru Yano and Colt Cabana. This match was a complete contrast of styles with the comedic duo facing the Suzuki Gun pairing of ZSJ and Taichi who spent the entire tournament complaining about how rubbish the league was and how they were the best team, despite their losses.

This match was just funny from the very start. After Colt and Yano decided who was going to start the match, Taichi and Zack played some of their own mind games and Yano had enough and left the arena – or so we thought.

Just as the referee’s count got to 15, out Yano came trying to get a count out, but the Holy Emperor got inside just in time. From there, we had Yano taking away Taichi’s grand pants off reveal, Zack Sabre Jr having a tantrum because he couldn’t rip off a turnbuckle and Colt Cabana almost losing because he was distracted by the beautiful Miho Abe.

In the end, Taichi got some retribution over Yano from this year’s G1. After being wrapped in a Burrito with Yoshinobu Kanemaru in the ring banner, Taichi got even. Pushing Cabana and Yano into the side of the ring, Zack and Taichi made their own human Burrito and got the win via count out. Even with the win, ZSJ and Taichi couldn’t really believe what happened and had a look of disgust on their faces.

This match isn’t for the wrestling traditionalists, but it reminds you that wrestling can be fun and entertaining. It’s definitely a match to add to the list of bizarre Toru Yano matches and a match that won’t be forgotten in a long time!
