Matt Riddle is still out here taking sharp shots at Goldberg
WWE superstar Matt Riddle has made his feelings on Goldberg known, and he’s still not holding back.
Matt Riddle has all the talent in the world and could eventually become one of WWE’s top stars in the future. He’s had quite the meteoric rise in professional wrestling since Dana White foolishly passed on him at UFC, as Riddle shined on the independent scene before joining NXT in 2018.
The King of Bros has already made quite the impact in NXT, boasting a 4-0 record over Kassius Ohno and marquee TakeOver matches against Finn Balor, The Velveteen Dream, and Roderick Strong.
But he’s honestly made more of a name for himself on social media than in the ring, which shows you how good he is at getting his name out there. His primary target? Bill Goldberg.
He spoke to TalkSport’s Alex McCarthy about Goldberg, calling him unsafe and criticizing his wrestling skills. Riddle even got into a backstage spat with Goldberg that was taped by WWE cameras around SummerSlam.
Riddle isn’t done taking shots either. Goldberg told Stone Cold Steve Austin on the most recent “Broken Skull Sessions” episode that he owes The Undertaker a rematch for their doomed – and dangerous – bout at Crown Jewel.
At the time, Riddle was critical of the match, knocking Goldberg for his shortcomings in the ring while praising Taker as a legend.
And he still has nothing nice to say about Goldberg.
An apology and not a receipt/rematch. Riddle is of the opinion that Goldberg’s lack of ability put The Undertaker at risk in the match, so, from his perspective, he wouldn’t want a rematch since it would simply be another instance where Taker would be in the ring with an unsafe worker.
I don’t wrestle, so I can’t comment on how safe or competent Goldberg is, especially since he’s a legend. But Riddle is one of the best wrestlers in the business today, acclaimed by all for his multi-faceted in-ring work, which incorporates story-telling elements and moves from a variety of disciplines. So yeah, as hot as his takes on Goldberg are, he’s got a right to say them.
