At WWE TLC 2019, Rusev finally got his hands on Bobby Lashley in a one-on-one match with a “Tables” stipulation. We thought he would get his win and end this nonsense one and for all…and how wrong we were.

Rusev ends up in the most ridiculous storylines in WWE, and this TMZ-style (seriously, go watch the hype package for this match if you haven’t already and cringe with the rest of us) affair feud has been up there with them. The Bulgarian George Clooney has pulled off a wonderful acting job and has fully embraced the absurdity of the angle, shining brightly in his last Raw segment. But for the most part, fans have been hoping for a swift end to this storyline.

That’s why fans were excited for Bobby Lashley vs. Rusev at WWE TLC 2019. Most people assumed Rusev would finally defeat Lashley in their first match, as WWE had been keeping the two separate from each other in the ring. They wanted to build up to a big confrontation at TLC on Pay Per View.

However, Rusev didn’t win the Tables match. Lashley sent Rusev flying through the table and walked away victorious with Lana. He picked up the emotional win over the wronged babyface, while WWE fans groaned at the prospect of more shenanigans from Lashley and Lana in this “train wreck” of a storyline.

We shouldn’t have assumed that Lashley and Rusev would have only the one Tables match at the TLC PPV in their feud, nor should we have assumed that The Bulgarian George Clooney would win in their first confrontation.

WWE are fully invested in this wild storyline and want to make their babyface work for his wins. Hopefully, fans remain behind the lovable Rusev and don’t sour on everything entirely, since he’s somehow come out of this looking good, thanks to his incredible charisma. Rusev has been the one thing working in all of this, so fans will hope he gets his big win in an even bigger gimmick match at some point in the near future to save us from the storyline getting any weirder. (Plus, we can only tolerate Lana’s screaming and bizarre accusations so much.)
