At WWE TLC 2019, King Corbin will likely be humbled by Roman Reigns, but after the Pay Per View is over, he could gain a manager.

Vince McMahon has been high on Baron Corbin for quite some time, even though the former Money in the Bank winner has never won a world title in WWE. (He memorably failed that cash in on Jinder Mahal thanks to John Cena’s interference.)

But Corbin did win the King of the Ring this year over fan favorite Shorty G. He’ll surely lose convincingly to Roman Reigns at the TLC Pay Per View on Dec. 15, but, afterwards, Corbin could be in line for another boost heading into WrestleMania season.

According to WrestlingInc.com’s Joshua Gagnon, Drake Maverick managed King Corbin at a WWE Live Event in Green Bay on Thursday.

Although this could have been a one-off thing to give Corbin more heat in front of the crowd, there may be a larger plan here. The Wrestling Observer News’ Dave Meltzer reports WWE is aiming to “eventually” have Maverick manage Corbin, so this could be a development to watch in 2020.

Corbin doesn’t need a manager, but he could benefit from Maverick, who is one of the most talented talkers and comedy guys in wrestling right now. Maverick has been in several embarrassing and memorable segments on the main roster, but he’s also excelled in a more serious GM role on 205 Live.

WWE had Corbin retire Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35, so perhaps the “King” could be ready for another major role at WrestleMania 36.

As for Maverick, a managerial partnership with EC3 was teased earlier this year but came to nothing. EC3 has been on the periphery of WWE programming, whereas Corbin is a central part of it as one of the top heels. This partnership could be a good way for Maverick to continue to increase his stock in the company.
