Kofi Kingston says he’s signed a five-year deal with WWE
Kofi Kingston has been a mainstay in WWE over the past decade, and he recently informed fans that he’s signed a new five-year deal with the company.
The year 2019 was a special one for Kofi Kingston, who owned the Road to WrestleMania 35 with #KofiMania. Kingston won the WWE Championship at the Show of Shows in an absolute clinic of a match with Daniel Bryan, and he put in some incredible performances in the Elimination Chamber and in multiple Gauntlet Matches before winning the title.
And as champion, Kingston carried the WWE Title wonderfully, bringing prestige to a title that had languished for much of 2018. After losing the title under disappointing circumstances to Brock Lesnar, Kingston continued to keep his head high and shine in the ring, even retaining the SmackDown Tag Team Titles in a sensational ladder match with The Revival at TLC.
WWE fans have enjoyed Kingston’s elite work this year, and they can look forward to several more years of excellence from The New Day’s most experienced wrestler.
Kingston recently said on The New Day’s “Feel The Power” podcast that he has inked a five-year contract with WWE. While he didn’t specify exactly when he signed the deal, fans can assume he’s signed through 2024.
Here’s the quote from WrestlingNews.Co’s Andrew Ravens:
"“I’m not done, I just signed another 5-year contract so we got five more years, so who knows what my body is going to feel like after that.”"
An amazing singles and tag team wrestler, Kingston was one of WWE’s MVPs in 2019 and is hopefully being paid accordingly. WWE has made it a priority to give talent longer deals in the AEW era, and Kingston is an important part of their programming; he’s been holding down the fort for over a decade in the mid-card, tag team scene, and the main event.
Kingston won the WWE Championship for the first time in his career in 2019, but fans shouldn’t rule out a second world title run for a man who is still one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE. Just go back and watch the crowd’s reactions to his every move at TLC. Kofi is still in that elite class of performer, and it seems like he’s only getting better with age.
