Coming off of the heels of a hot year in 2019 and signing a new five year deal with WWE, Kofi Kingston hints at when he might retire from the ring for good.

2019 was an incredible year for Kofi Kingston. After a decade of being considered an underrated Superstar by the masses, the Ghana native finally reached the promise land, at WrestleMania no less, by finally capturing the WWE Championship.

Even better, Kingston was able to win two SmackDown Tag Team Championships with his New Day buddies. His latest reign is still ongoing and leading to an incredible performance at the TLC Pay-Per-View that suggests that at age 38, he still has a lot left in the tank. But of course, he is 38, and even Kingston is aware that this tank is bound to run out eventually.

During a recent interview with Newsweek, in light of his new five year deal extension made with WWE, Kingston was asked how long he plans to stick around. The multi-time tag champ admits that he has thought about where he could be five years from now and says that there is, indeed, a possibility that “at the end of this five years [it] might be the end of my career.”

He elaborates further about how hard it is to be away from his kids. The former four time Intercontinental Champion suggests that he wants to be there to see his kids grow up and the only way to do that is to walk away to the ring when that time is right for him.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time, over a decade. It’ll be 12 years on television in January, which is crazy to think about, but that’s the reality,” Kingston adds during the interview. “You have to be thinking about those things as a family man and as a person in general.”

Whether Kofi Kingston ultimately decides to hang up his boots five years from now or not, if one thing is for sure, it is that he is bound to join the Hall of Fame whenever he decides to settle down into retirement.
