Impact Wrestling finally granted Killer Kross his release, and he is now arguably the hottest free agent available in wrestling heading into 2020 with major interest from WWE.

In June, Impact Wrestling released rising star Scarlett Bordeaux after she and Killer Kross requested their releases from the company. Months later, Bordeaux signed with WWE NXT and reported to the Performance Center, and she has the potential to be a massive star in the company after showing amazing character work with Impact.

Kross has the same potential to be an excellent character for any promotion that signs him, and in December, Impact finally granted his request to leave the company. He is now free to join WWE, AEW, NJPW, or any other major wrestling promotion in 2020, and it looks like WWE have major interest in signing the former Impact star.

WrestleVotes reports that WWE has “significantly high” interest in signing Killer Kroos. In fact, they reported that the company is prepared to offer Kross a contract similar to what they offered current AEW star Hangman Page. Since Hangman is a huge part of AEW, which is WWE’s biggest rival in the United States, it’s safe to say Kross could be headed for a major payday.

WWE’s heavy pursuit after Kross speaks to the man’s talent in wrestling, as his dark character in Impact quickly attracted attention and fans. He never won a title with the promotion, but he was in their main event scene and did pick up titles at other promotions.

Kross will make his MLW debut on Feb. 1 at FIGHTLAND, so that’s another development for pro wrestling fans to watch closely.

It’s unclear if Kross favors WWE’s offer or would prefer to work with other promotions, who should also be ready to either break the bank or give assurances of a major push to Kross. He has everyone in the wrestling world watching after Impact dropped the ball on him after initially giving him a platform to be a breakout star.

WWE have the resources to sign the wrestlers they want, but it’s worth noting that they lost out on Kris Statlander after lowballing her. And now Statlander has an AEW Women’s Title opportunity against Riho in January.

It looks like WWE won’t make the same mistake with Kross and are prepared to pay him his financial worth, which is something Impact struggled to do. For other promotions, coming within that ballpark while using their greater booking flexibility for a push on television would be prudent. But if Kross ends up choosing WWE, it will be exciting to see what he can do with their digital resources.
