Becky Lynch vs. Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship is more or less of a lock for WWE Royal Rumble 2020. Here’s why The Empress should beat The Man for the second year in a row at the same Pay-Per-View.

As of this writing at least, Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship has not been booked for the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 event.

However, judging by the latest storyline developments between The Empress and The Man, it seems as though that match has been all but confirmed yet. Especially since new reports from The Wrestling Observer (h/t Sportskeeda) suggests that this is a match that Raw booker Paul Heyman has been keen on locking down for the show. And it’s easy to understand why.

Asuka vs. Becky Lynch is a feud that writes itself as it calls back to history dating back all the way to late 2018 between the two. More recently, though, Lynch has been feuding with The Kabuki Warriors ever since the night after Hell in a Cell, where she successfully retained her title against Sasha Banks.

Not only has the former Becky Two Belts struggled to defeat the two Tag Team Champions, but Asuka even managed to pin Lynch during one of their tag team matches. Furthermore, Asuka last pushed The Man off the ladder at TLC to retain her Women’s Tag Team Championship.

For the second year in a row at the same Pay-Per-View, TLC ended with Asuka standing tall atop a ladder as Becky Lynch looked up to her in defeat. The following night, Lynch made a challenge to Asuka on how badly she needed to face her one-on-one.

All signs are pointing to their feud culminating at WWE Royal Rumble 2020 and if I were a betting man, I’d bet that Asuka will pull an upset. She certainly deserves to win the big one at the PPV, if you ask me. And if you do ask me, I’d say there are exactly three reasons why.
