It could lead to a bigger rematch at WrestleMania

If anything was evident by that promo interview from Becky Lynch last Monday, it is that this entire build between Lynch and Asuka is WrestleMania worthy. That chill inducing interview segment would not look out of place if put on a Mania go home show.

With that said, especially in considering the high stakes complexities of the storyline itself, this story could provide a perfect culmination for WrestleMania.

But since the stage has already been set for a WWE Royal Rumble 2020 encounter, the only way for that match to happen is for Asuka to win the Raw Women’s Championship at the Rumble and then (somehow) open the door for a rematch at Mania, where a Lynch win would feel all the more satisfying for a WrestleMania moment.

I understand that beating Becky Lynch just to put the title back on her two months later sounds pointless and, to an extent, counter-productive, but sometimes, a booking decision like that is worth it to produce a Mania moment alone.

It’s no different than when Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Championship for a day at WrestleMania 32. Was it an arguably pointless reign? Sure, but it was worth it to see a veteran of the sport finally get his WrestleMania moment. Just like this decision would be worth it to see The Man raise the title above her head for a second year in a row at WrestleMania.
