2. New York

Taking place the day before WrestleMania 35, the Mania season energy was very much alive inside of the Barclays Center for TakeOver: New York. In fact, many of the matches and moments on this night nearly rival those we would see on any given Mania night.

War Raiders vs. Ricochet and Aleister Black gave us one of the very best tag team matches we’ve seen all year and in the history of NXT. Velveteen Dream pulled off an upset in a fun combination of technical wrestling and that show boating “sports entertainment” goodness against Matt Riddle.

Meanwhile, WALTER dethroned Pete Dunne of his United Kingdom Championship after a historic 685 days in follow up from Blackpool. Then, of course, Shayna Baszler did what she’s done best all year round: decimate any and every woman put in front of her.

In the main event, Adam Cole replaced Gargano’s storyline rival Tommaso Ciampa at nearly the last minute to create a memorable Two out of Three Falls Match. The third fall especially gave us one of the most pulse pounding, exhilarating matches to ever take place on a WWE stage before we got a genuinely feel good moment in Mr. NXT himself finally winning the big one.
